Do You Need a Survey at This Stage?

Normally we would recommend an inspection by one of our experienced qualified pest control technicians before you commit to a survey.

They will lift any drain covers and look for evidence of rats, be that through their droppings, smear marks or other tell tale signs of activity. We would also bait the drain – the bait is attractive to the rats, and although initially they will be suspicious as they are clever, cautious animals, ultimately, they will start to eat the bait.

The bait will kill any rat that eats it, but due to the pheromones they will have spread throughout the drain and your property, this alone will encourage other rats.

We use this as evidence that there is rat activity – at this point a survey could be recommended to give us the best chance of stopping any further problems.

Ultimately, we need to proof your home to stop them gaining access, hence a CCTV survey is an important tool in our armoury.

We use 3 tailor made drain cameras, capable of surveying up to 120 meters, meaning we can reach the areas we need to. The beauty of using CCTV is we don’t have to dig any trenches or cause any disruption…saves time, money and mess.

The cameras we use are on the end of very strong cables, which in turn are held on reels which we feed into each drain.

During its operation, we receive very clear high definition images on the control panel – and whenever we find a break, problem or evidence of rats being present, we take a photograph and the system notes the exact co-ordinates.

Once we have fully explored the drains, we will produce a detailed report and recommendations for you, to include photographs and the exact co-ordinates of any issues found – makes it very easy for any other contractors who you may need to instruct if major structural issues are found. Saves you both time and money.

In around 50 – 60% of surveys, we find evidence of rats living in the drains.

It depends on what damage we find, which will determine what needs to be done.

Normally it is something we can tackle ourselves, which might be minor repairs, blocking any holes if we can access them, resetting the manhole cover, etc.

A common solution (but not suitable every time) is to fit non return valves – as the name suggest, these are a type of one way door that stops rats entering whilst still allowing your waste to pass through.

Fitted correctly a highly effective and a long lasting solution, in most cases.

We will provide you with a firm price to fit and make a recommendation as to how many you need. In addition, we will offer you a discount of 12% off our standard price, to help offset some of the survey cost.

Our Specialised CCTV Drain Surveys for Rats

Our specialised CCTV drain surveys are unique because our surveyors are qualified through the National Association Drainage Contractors (NADC) and are also fully qualified pest control technicians. This combination of expertise allows us to have a specialised understanding of what to look for.

By identifying vulnerabilities and potential entry points, we equip you to fortify your property and prevent future intrusions. Our comprehensive approach leaves no room for surprises, offering peace of mind and effective rat control.

How Do CCTV Drain Surveys Help with Rat Control?

The cornerstone of successful rat control lies in knowledge. Our CCTV rat drain surveys and detailed CCTV rat inspection reports, equip you with the essential understanding required to strategically tackle rat infestations. Drains often serve as rats' entry and exit points, and within the drainage network, they establish nests and burrows. Through our comprehensive CCTV drain surveys, we pinpoint potential entry points and rat habitats. This data proves pivotal in devising a precise rat control plan, facilitating targeted baiting and trapping strategies.

With comprehensive insights at your disposal, collaborative measures with our experts can be implemented to exterminate rats and prevent their resurgence. Moreover, CCTV drain surveys also unearth structural issues or damages within the drainage system, contributing to rat infestations. By addressing these concerns, obstructing rats' access via drains becomes more feasible, thus enhancing overall rat control endeavours.

Armed with detailed insights, you can collaborate with our experts to implement measures that eliminate rats and prevent their return.

What are the Benefits of Using CCTV for Rat Control in Drains?

Using Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) for rat control in drains can offer several benefits, primarily by providing a comprehensive and efficient way to monitor and manage rat infestations.

It's important to note that while CCTV can be a valuable tool, it should be used in conjunction with other integrated pest management strategies for effective rat control. These may include sealing entry points, proper waste management, habitat modification, and targeted trapping. Additionally, ethical considerations and data privacy concerns should be taken into account when implementing CCTV systems in public spaces.

Expert Pre-Survey Inspection for Rat Activity Detection

Before proceeding with a survey, our seasoned pest control technicians conduct a meticulous inspection to detect signs of rat activity. Through lifting drain covers and keen observation, we uncover tell-tale indicators such as droppings and smear marks, strategically employing bait in drains to attract rats, allowing us to gauge their presence. While rats may initially display clever and cautious behaviour, their eventual consumption of the bait leads to effective control measures.
Notably, the pheromones emitted during this process can attract other rats, further emphasising the importance of our approach. This thorough inspection serves as the foundation for recommending a survey, allowing us to pre-empt potential rat-related issues. Our ultimate goal is to safeguard your residence from rat access, with the instrumental assistance of our CCTV survey tool.

Why Choose Our CCTV Drain Survey for Rats

Our specialised approach to CCTV drains surveys for rats offer an unintrusive and undisruptive process involving the use of three custom-made drain cameras, capable of surveying distances of up to 120 meters. This technology eliminates the need for digging trenches and minimises disruptions, saving time and costs. Strong cables with attached cameras are fed into each drain, providing high-definition images and noting problem areas or rat evidence through exact coordinates.

After a comprehensive drain exploration, we furnish you with a detailed report, including photographs and precise issue coordinates. This not only streamlines communication but also facilitates coordination with other contractors if structural concerns arise, saving you both time and expenses.

Roughly 50-60% of our surveys reveal rat presence within drains. Depending on the extent of damage, necessary actions are determined.
